This is the written version of the letter. The audio is coming soon.
Let''s Shine exists for one simple idea: understanding yourself and the people around you better brings you peace. And most of us don''t walk that path alone.
There are two things that brought me here. The first is that communication between people is very, very hard: you say one thing and the person in front of you interprets another based on their beliefs, their values, what they''ve lived. In larger groups —in couples, in families— that distance multiplies. The second is that AI is a double-edged sword: very powerful for good, very powerful for harm. And I think it''s worth dedicating a serious chunk of my life to pushing it toward the side of good.
Let''s Shine is that.
A contemplative AI that walks with you to bring out your best self, improve the relationships with the people who matter, understand the other, find peace and harmony, and return to your center when life has pulled you out of it. For those who are struggling —anxiety, grief, a crisis— and also for those who simply want to grow even when nothing is broken.
The speaker we''re launching is the natural next step. It''s like having someone you can tell what you don''t tell, in your living room, no screen, no phone. I think especially of older people who live alone: the speaker can keep them company, remind them of things, help them build their life story, encourage them back to hobbies. But it works for anyone who wants a human-voice companion at home.
My commitment is detailed at the end of this page, written in first person, not as legal terms. In short: your data is yours, encrypted, nobody can read it. We don''t use it against you or against anyone. We don''t train public models with what you tell us. We don''t fake humanity. We don''t monetize your attention. Let''s Shine is here only for your good. If it ever closes, we open code and data so you or someone else can continue.
If you decide to reserve the speaker, what I ask of you is to be one of the first 100 founders who try it and tell us what works and what doesn''t. You''ll shape Let''s Shine with your feedback so it can later help millions.
And if you try it and after a month you walk away, that''s fine too. My only wish is that something of what you lived with Let''s Shine helped you in some conversation, in some look at yourself, in something. That''s already enough.
One note: all of this I build on top of an earlier experience. In 2016 I founded Diseasemaps.org, a platform so that people with rare diseases wouldn''t be alone. It''s still active. I learned there what happens when you give someone going through something hard a tool to stop being alone. Let''s Shine widens that field.
